Organizations and networks are facing a number of new challenges and threats that have so far included executive orders forbidding diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives; department shut downs; and spending freezes.
This tool was designed to support conversations, alignment, and decision making for collaboratives and teams so that people can better understand their core commitments and act on them during a rapidly changing environment.
The tool follows the recent blog post “Reckoning with the U.S. Election: 10 Reflections and Recommendations for Collective Impact Networks” and includes 5 sections for groups to assess and discuss together:
(1) What are our core values and principles and how will we stand for them;
(2) Who do we need to protect in our network and community?;
(3) What will we resist in terms of threats or harms to our organization/network and the community we serve;
(4) What do we need to prioritize building to demonstrate results and serve greatest needs; and
(5) Where can we build bridges and gain support for our values and work.
When using this tool, the important thing is to have explicit conversations, make and communicate decisions, and find partners and resources to act.
