Initiative Purpose and Goals:

Black Thrive seeks to change the significant inequalities in mental health and wellbeing experienced by Lambeth's diverse black population by bringing together community and system stakeholders to work collaboratively: facilitating equity of voice, building a data system that will inform collective action and monitor progress, and creating the mechanisms required to ensure transparency and accountability.

Specifically, the goals of the initiative are as follows:

1) To improve resilience, wellbeing & reduce mental ill health and stigma in black communities in Lambeth

2) People and communities better able to look after their own and others' wellbeing

3) Confident, knowledgeable, timely and appropriate use of services

4) Black people who experience mental distress and mental illness at all ages gain positive benefit from services

5) Black people and their families experience empathy, dignity and respect from staff in mental health, primary care, police and other services especially when they are in mental distress
