Iowa College Aid is seeking a Community Engagement Consultant to perform professional level program planning work as part of a comprehensive plan to assist community-based efforts to increase higher education attainment in the state. Serve as technical assistance consultant and facilitator in the implementation of the collective impact framework for communities establishing and developing Local College Access Networks (LCANs). Assist communities in creating consensus around baseline research, data-driven decision making and communication. Assist local leadership in building public will, broadening community representation, and moving forward the work of local collaborative providing planning, support, and consultation to communities on issues of organizational planning, sustainability, fiscal planning and reporting.


Work closely with GEAR UP Iowa and other agency departments and projects to share best practices and coordinate efforts to support communities. Lead agency efforts to systematize the Course to College Program in Iowa High Schools. Plan and conduct meetings with high school and area education agency officials to assist in planning and implementing a college-going culture, college application campaign activities, FAFSA completion projects, college decision day programs, summer transition programs, and related activities. Participate in statewide educator professional development networks and committees relative to college and career planning for secondary students.

Ensure that state and federal policies and regulations related to FAFSA completion and student privacy are followed. Work with schools to provide promotional materials, scripts/speaking points, direction about media involvement, and related educational materials. Institute data collection strategies to assist in tracking completed applications. Work with schools to obtain signed data agreements and internally manage the agreements. Research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices, strategies and trends in collective impact, college access and success, community engagement and other related subjects. Provide regular updates to team members and other agency staff. Utilize designated systems for tracking program progress, the collection of program evaluation data, and customer relations. Prepare and deliver presentations/trainings, as needed.

Contribute to and consult on community engagement publications, website and outreach efforts. Represent community engagement in agency initiatives and strategic planning.
